Ahmad Zulhilmi Ghazali
Ahmad Zulhilmi was born in 1991 in Kedah, Malaysia and graduated in Architecture Studies. He was interested in photography at the age of 17 after having its own camera.
He started to know street photography in the year 2013. At the beginning, street photography is considered as a weekly hobby to spend his weekend and to get to know new peoples and new friends. Regarded as a quiet person, street photography makes him get out of his comfort zone and learn to develop his communication skill with public. Still searching for its own identity and style in street photography, but the work of Martin Parr and Joel Meyerowitz is often used as a source of reference and inspiration.
- Winner, “Best Picture Category”, Sony Alpha Penang Challenge, Penang, 2009
- Participated in “FJM” Group Exhibition organized by KLPF, Kuala Lumpur, 2015
For me, photography is a process of documenting street’s life and human activities where culture, dress, and architecture etc. are the visual elements that will help in telling the story and strengthen the visual narrative. These elements make it a diversity of storytelling in street photography in which every corner of the world has its own unique story and their own unique traditions and values.
